This Privacy Policy explains how Merdeka Media Sdn. Bhd. (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use merdekamedia.com, buy from our shop, or join our affiliate programme. We handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Malaysia).

1. Personal data we collect

  • Orders: your name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, the items you order and your order history.
  • Payments: payments are processed by our payment provider CHIP (Chip In Sdn. Bhd.). We receive the payment status and reference, but we never see or store your card number or online banking login.
  • Account: if you create an account, your username, email address and a securely hashed password.
  • Affiliate programme: if you register as an affiliate, your name, email, phone number, address, social media links and the bank account details you give us for commission payments, together with the clicks, referrals and commissions linked to your affiliate link.
  • Website use: technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies (see section 6).

2. How we use your personal data

  • To process, deliver and support your orders, including pre-orders.
  • To send order confirmations, delivery updates and replies to your enquiries.
  • To run the affiliate programme: track referrals, calculate commissions and pay them to you.
  • To prevent fraud, keep the website secure and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To send news about our books, only if you have agreed to receive it. You can unsubscribe at any time.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to serve you:

  • CHIP, to process your payment.
  • EasyParcel and the courier delivering your parcel (for example Pos Malaysia, J&T Express, SPX Xpress or Best Express): your name, phone number and delivery address.
  • Our hosting and email providers, who store and send data on our behalf.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

4. How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for as long as required by Malaysian tax and company law (generally 7 years). Affiliate records are kept while you remain an affiliate and for as long as needed to settle commissions. Other data is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.

5. Security

Our website uses HTTPS encryption, and access to personal data is limited to staff who need it. Payment details are handled entirely by CHIP on its own secure payment page.

6. Cookies

We use cookies to keep your cart and login working, to remember the affiliate who referred you (for 30 days) so they receive their commission, and to understand how the website is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the cart and checkout may not work without them.

7. Your rights

You may ask to access or correct your personal data, withdraw consent to marketing, or ask us to limit how we use it. Email info@merdekamedia.com and we will respond within 21 days.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
